Tina's Summer Festival Guide Blog

Tina likes wearing hats. After two cups of coffee she is very nice, before that she doesn’t talk much. She writes about festivals, music events and other random things that catch her fancy, She wrote her first song when she was twelve years old and is currently working on her first novel. In between blogging, writing and song writing, she keeps herself pretty busy by going to gigs and listening to new music; this is considered 'research' and when she reads a magazine or surfs the web its called working, this is most pleasing and she enjoys her life a lot.

The wheels are turning, the tents are being dusted off, and the sleeping bags pulled out from underneath beds all across the the country.  Life is good again. Its Download and Park Life this weekend, where you can catch the legendary Flaming Lips play the main stage in Platt Fields park or rock it up with Black Sabbath at Download.

Tupac returns from the dead at Coachella (well...in hologram form anyway)

Now I don’t mean to harp on about Coachella, but I feel like a second blog post is called for when the deceased rap-star Tupac made an unexpected appearance on the main stage to perform with Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg last Sunday.

Hello internet world, did you have a good new years party? I definitely did, but unfortunately it seems like quite a long time ago now. All the fun stuff about winter is over and now all we have left is, well, winter. Last week I went to see Mission Impossible 4, I don’t really know why I was expecting it to be good, I have a vague memory of enjoying the first one, but I might have been ten years old. It was the worst film I saw all of last year, and I'm glad it was last year so it hasn’t stained 2012 for me. On the plus side, now that its January, we all get to squint our eyes really hard and try to predict the future of music for the year ahead, then, if we get one right we can pat ourselves on the back and congratulate ourselves on our awesome predicting talent. I cant predict the future, sorry, but here are some things I'm looking forward to:

I caught up with London based singer songwriter, Shane Beales after his acoustic gig in Liverpool last week, he performed his new album to an excited crowd rammed into a tiny cafe. My highlights were Shells, from his new album Tel Aviv, and a song called The Crunch dedicated to all the bankers out there.
