Headliners announced for Undercover Festival 2015

ANTI-NOWHERE LEAGUE announced (2nd Jan 2015) as the headline act for Friday18th September 2015 at Undercover Festival III.

Not resting we have hit the ground running for 2015, we are pleased with ANTI-NOWHERE LEAGUE along with Saturdays headline act THE DAMNED,  for Sunday we have the UK SUBS and PENETRATION as joint headliners.

The thing about this festival more than any other in our opinion is a melting pot of the genres, crew, the bands, the venue but last and not least the varied / fun nature of those there that made this a festival that we firmly believe no other promoter will be able to re-create.

For 2015 we are sticking with the 2 stages as the synergy between both stages was excellent.

Please note: For the avoidance of any doubt The Undercover Festival is not an open air festival – the festival will be held in 2 rooms plus other areas at the Bisley Pavilion nr Woking Surrey – undercover by nature of the music policy of this festival and undercover – well because it is….

More acts added to Undercover Festival

We at the Summer Festival Guide are happy to announced the latest batch of artists announced for this years Undercover Festival.

UK SUBS (Main Stage Sat 20th Sept)
Incredibly, 2010 marked the fifth decade in which the U.K.Subs had continually graced the Punk Rock scene. Inspired by the Damned at the birth of British Punk, the now equally legendary Charlie Harper formed, late in 1976.

Led by the indefatigable Charlie Harper (now venerated as the godfather of UK punk) the band has continued and thrived, through various line-ups and record companies.

Touring worldwide for 35 plus years, they maintain and pioneer the true spirit of punk rock, without the compromise and watering-down that has affected so many of their contemporaries. There has never been any division of fan and band with the Subs, and Charlie’s unrelenting love of his audience and music shines through.

SPIZZENERGI (Main Stage Sun 21st Sept)

They were originally booked for the Fri but pulled out for acceptable reasons but we are pleased that ALL of the band is NOW available to play the Sunday AND boy are you in for a treat..

Spizzenergi formed in the late 1970s, led by Spizz.  The band changed its name every year, subsequent names includingAthletico Spizz 80Spizzoil and The Spizzles. They are notable as the first band to top the newly created UK Indie Chartearly in 1980. However, they were perhaps best known for their single "Where's Captain Kirk?" More than two decades after its release, it was included in Mojo magazine's list of the best punk rock singles of all time.

2014 marks the 35th anniversary since those heady days where Spizz formed the band, yes there have been numerous changes to the band but what has not changed is the show you will witness at Undercover one that is relentless, pure theatre  and great fun.

One of the best showmen on the scene today..

TV SMITH (Stage II Fri 19th Sept)

Back at Undercover and deservedly so, if anyone who was at Undercover 2013 would know why we welcomed TV Smith back and his solo show always guaranteed to put in 110%.

TV Smith was founder member, singer and songwriter for the Adverts, who formed in the summer of 1976, and became one of the leading bands in the first wave of British punk rock. In early 1977, they performed regularly at the seminal Roxy Club in London, and gained cult success with the Stiff Records single “One Chord Wonders.” This turned to notoriety when their next release, “Gary Gilmore’s Eyes” became a hit record, leading to frequent radio and TV appearances and extensive media interest. A further single, “No Time To Be 21,” also entered the charts.  The album that followed in 1978, “Crossing the Red Sea with the Adverts,” is still considered a genuine classic, and appears in many Top Ten Punk Album lists.

THE MEOW MEOWS (Main stage Sunday 21st Sept)

The Meow Meows are a lively nine piece Ska 'n' Soul band from Brighton with a shared love of ska and drinking until incapacity.

Gathering a huge reputation we are pleased to have these guys on board and anyone coming had better get their skanking boots on as its going to be a lively set and then some..

That’s it for Undercover 2014s line up announcements…

We have made every effort to keep the buzz that was special in 2013 and make this festival that bit different.

Please note: For the avoidance of any doubt The Undercover Festival is not an open air festival – the festival will be held in 2 rooms plus other areas at the Bisley Pavilion nr Woking Surrey –  undercover by nature of the music policy of this festival and undercover – well because it is….

Undercover Festival complete Friday lineup

The Summer Festival Guide can reveal that the Gentlemans Dub Club will be headlining the Main Stage on the Friday for Undercover Festival 2014

Gentleman’s Dub Club is a nine-piece band that formed in Leeds in early 2006. With a style based in dub, ska and roots reggae, GDC have burst onto the UK circuit, rocking gigs and festivals up and down the country with their super high energy show. Combining tight grooves and a heavyweight sound, Gentleman’s Dub Club bring the party to crowds of all ages hungry for a dance floor workout, with their gigs often ending in a frenzied mosh pit reminiscent of a mid 80’s ska night. Live effects and mixing make for a crystal clear sound, and the band’s larger than life stage presence makes for a mesmerising experience.

Having built a reputation on consistently delivering one of the most energetic and exhilarating live shows to emerge from the UK music scene, the Gents’ antics have seen them astound crowds from Goa to Glastonbury, Boomtown, Bestival, V Fest, Secret Garden Party and Poland’s Ostroda Reggae Festival, not to mention the biggest bass-music’ festival in the world – Croatia’s Outlook Festival.

Their records remain securely within the top 40 of the album reggae charts since release, hailing support from some of the UK's most prominent underground representatives including Huw Stephens (BBC Radio 1), Rob Da Bank (BBC Radio 1), David Rodigan (BBC 1XTRA ) and Don Letts (BBC Radio 6 music).

Undercover Festival returns for 2014

A month on plans for 2014 Undercover Festival are already gathering a pace.

We are asking people to let us know what they think, what they want for 2014, and we will do our very best to listen to them as this is their festival as well, but as we are a small festival we will do what we can on those requests.  We can say that we have listened already a month since the festival many have been driving us nuts about a particular band, and we are finalising booking this band.

Undercover Festival have hit the ground running for 2014 and one of the headliners will be announced just before Christmas, also we have a great Christmas present for people with a limited number of early bird tickets and early bird family tickets available now!!  We are pleased that so far these have been selling really well so get in quick before they are gone. Details from the website.

Reflections on our very first festival:  “At the time GuilFest was no longer with us and we thought it would be a shame to let the unique atmosphere / buzz that was created in the Vive Le Rock Stage @ Guilfest in 2011 & 2012 go to waste”.

When we set this festival up we looked at what was special about the VLR stage and our primary aim was to recreate and build on that multi genre buzz that was the VLR stage at GuilFest, I hope those of you that were there agree that we not only met this aim we surpassed it.

The thing about this festival more than any other in our opinion is a melting pot of the crew, the bands, the venue but last and not least the varied / fun nature of those there that made this a festival that we think no ever promoter will be able to re-create.

Highlights? far too many to single out really, the main highlight for me was the people there walking around with the biggest smiles on their faces.

We have been asked what bands stood out; that is also a difficult one to answer as all the bands were excellent and it would be unfair to single any out in particular.

We pulled off the event with no trouble and a cracking atmosphere judging from the social media quotes and emails we have received everyone had a good time.

For 2014 we probably will not do any more stages as we think the 2 we had with the bands we had was 110% quality and the synergy between both stages was excellent.

Please note: For the avoidance of any doubt The Undercover Festival is not an open air festival – the festival will be held in 2 rooms plus other areas at the Bisley Pavilion nr Woking Surrey –  undercover by nature of the music policy of this festival and undercover – well because it is….

Undercover Festival bands announced

The Undercover Festival are pleased to report that the line up for this new and independent festival is now complete after sifting through emails for 400 plus bands we have finally filled the last few spaces.

Ranging from internationally renowned performers to established acts nationally and a lot of promising local talent

Punk, Ska, Northern, Indie, Alternative, Retro &  Acoustic + all at a bargain price; what more can you ask for?

Dreadzone, The Cockney Rejects, The Skints, The Glitter Band, 999, Stone Foundation, Chelsea, TV Smith, The Bermondsey Joyriders, Louise Distras, New Town Kings, Dirty Revolution, The Brompton Mix + many many more

“Unfortunately GuilFest is no longer with us and we thought it would be a shame to let the unique atmosphere / buzz that was created in the Vive Le Rock Stage @ Guilfest in 2011 & 2012 go to waste”.

Mick Mc Donagh from the festival team said “ When we set this festival up we looked at what was special about the VLR stage and we think we have recreated and built on that multi genre buzz that was the VLR stage at GuilFest”.

He added “At this festival we have acts that are internationally and nationally renowned but what will also be special about this festival is the amount of acts we have booked with local links.

Woking, Surrey and the South East have a rich musical heritage (The Jam, The Stranglers, Sham 69 etc), however contemporary music across Surrey and the South East to many is not as ground breaking and vibrant as those days, we believe that musical talent covering many genres and ages is still vibrant today but mostly undiscovered by the wider local community – our message to the community is come on down to the festival and see this rich line up of talent from Woking / Surrey / The South East / South Coast and beyond for yourselves”.

Beats staying in an watching x factor and all that schmaltz on TV!!

Unlike other local music events we will not be charging for parking…

Please note: For the avoidance of any doubt The Undercover Festival is not an open air festival – the festival will be held in 2 rooms and a marquee at the Bisley Pavilion – undercover by nature of the music policy of this festival and undercover – well because it is….
